To stick with what you have or to twist and take a new card – a question from our endless games of Pontoon as a child.
As lockdown restrictions ease, the possibility of returning to my old habits and routines arises, so this is a question that I have been asking myself.
Which of my lockdown habits and routines should I keep? What has energised and nourished me? What are the things in which I have found value?
What are the parts of my pre-lockdown life do I not wish to return to? What did I do out of habit or routine, but now, on reflection, I realise drained my energy?
Lockdown has brought many old habits and routines of my life to a halt. This has given me the space to see what they were doing to me. Now I feel I have a better understanding of what I need. Now I know what energises me and what depletes me.
As restrictions are gradually lifted, I face a choice: will I stick or twist? Will I slide back into my old habits and routines? Or shall I welcome the opportunity to do some ‘spring cleaning’ and make some beneficial changes? What will you do with your old habits and routines: stick or twist?
